Travel Series

Travel Series are a way for me to tell stories about my adventures in a different way.

Sure, I’ll write activity, food and drink guides for most places I visit. But, posts in my series help me hone in on the moments that make each destination so special.

WHAT IS BLAZERS FOR BEACHES?

After a fantastic two and a half years in London, I’m excited to chase another dream of mine- travelling SE Asia, Australia and New Zealand while teaching English (digitally).

Teaching English to those keen to learn it is a long-held ambition- something I originally intended to do after finishing graduate school, going so far as to plan a summer teaching in Spain. That summer never happened though, as I found myself with a job offer too good to turn down as graduation neared.

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this afraid and simultaneously excited. Genuinely can not wait to see what the next few weeks hold.

I’m not sure when I’ll be ‘back’ per se or what comes next, or even where I’m heading next month (truthfully).

It’s important to me wherever I land next professionally gets my heart racing. I recognise the immense privilege that comes with being able to take off a few weeks, months, whatever it may be to figure that out. Which, in part, is why I’m pumped to be able to give back and teach while I figure out what I’m really interested in working on.

I intend to journal this time on the road in a different way- a weekly post series to memorialize the peaks, pits, and share stories the places I visit. Cue, Trading Blazers for Beaches.

WHAT IS #TAKE12TRIPS?

#Take12Trips in 2017 is a continuation of the only resolution I made in 2016- a promise to commit to doing something once a month. Anything counts- it can be dinner at a new place, visiting a new museum or spending the weekend at a cute B&B in the country. It doesn’t need to be an epic trip to a foreign country, just the chance to discover something new.

In 2019, when I set off for my biggest adventure yet (backpacking and teaching English while on sabbatical), I discontinued #Take12Trips to focus on chronicling the moments of my trip in Blazers for Beaches. Who knows where 2020 will lead, but there’s a chance I’ll continue it in the future.
